under the guidance of trained educators.
| Dinosaur Camp (Ages 7–9) 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, August 4–6 Discovery Center, Art Lab, CoLabPrior to their extinction, dinosaurs reigned over our planet for 165 million years. During this camp, students will investigate all things dinosaur, hone their observation skills, and learn through a variety of engaging, hands-on S.T.E.A.M. activities in science, technology, engineering, art and math. | Lasers (Ages 10–12) 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, August 4–6 Discovery Center, Art Lab, CoLabLearn the fundamentals of laser light through hands-on activities. These experiments inspire cooperative team-building opportunities while focusing on the science of lasers and light, what makes laser light unique, and how lasers are used in everyday life. Participants will design their own laser music show and present their work. |
| Start-to-Art (Ages 7–9) 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, August 11–13 Discovery Center, Art Lab, CoLabCampers will learn about the science of color, color theory and art history through planetarium experiences, gallery tours and hands-on S.T.E.A.M. activities. Inspire your child’s inner artist to bloom. | Robotics (Ages 10–12) 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, August 11–13 Discovery Center, Art Lab, CoLabDiscover how robots can help solve problems affecting Alaska and the North. From climate change to traversing snowy terrain and withstanding freezing temperatures, many aspects of life in Alaska could be improved with the help of robots. Campers will explore museum exhibitions, discuss complex issues, and design robotic solutions by programming and building with LEGO Mindstorms® equipment. No previous experience is necessary. |
