Anchorage’s largest salmon derby, the Slam’n Salm’n King Derby, is scheduled for multiple weekends in June once again this year. The first weekend will be Friday to Sunday June 5-7. The second weekend will be Friday to Sunday June 12-14 and the final weekend will be Friday and Saturday June 19th and 20th. Official derby times will look a little different this years. Derby operating hours will be from 7:00 a.m-7:00 p.m. Anglers will have the opportunity to cast a line to help others, while also fishing for a chance to win exciting prizes. An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 21 at Kings Landing at 2:00 p.m. .
Proceeds from this year’s derby will support Alaskan non-profit organizations.
Both Local anglers and out-of-state visitors are eligible to participate in the Derby.
To participate, a derby ticket must be purchased prior to fishing. Tickets will be available at the Derby Headquarters at The Bait Shack located at 212 W. Whitney Road.
