September 11 Day of Remembrance
The Alaska Veterans Museum will observe September 11 as a day of remembrance for the lives lost and the heroic response that followed the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.
On that day, al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four aircraft. Two struck the World Trade Center towers in New York City, one struck the Pentagon near Washington, D.C., and United Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew courageously fought back, preventing the attackers from reaching their intended target.
While the museum will not hold a formal ceremony, admission to the Alaska Veterans Museum will be free for the day. All are welcome to visit, reflect, and remember.
